How Your Personality and Mindset Affects Your Sales and Your Business

Are you really cut out for sales? Business? Entrepreneurship? I think it all looks very glamorous from behind a phone but I think often people forget your have to have GRIT, DETERMINATION, and DRIVE in order to excel at these things. Rarely do people just seek you out and want to fork over their money to you. (if this happens to you, please let me know your secrets!)

You have to be willing to prospect. That word often freaks people out. Sometimes our companies set quotas that are really high or scary for us at first. We are paralyzed by fear, overwhelmed with the thought of failure and procrastinate in our email inboxes until enough time has gone by that we conveniently "forget" to follow up with leads or prospect new ones. We are TERRIFIED of putting ourselves out there. We are AFRAID to do the hard work or perhaps we just don't want to.

So I want you to ask yourself this.... Are you willing to do what it takes to become tops sales? Business owner? Entrepreneur? Or do you just want the glamorous freedom that you see on social media? I don't think everyone is really willing to do in the work and they will actually put MORE work into NOT doing something than it would take to actually do the real work!!! It's mind blowing to me but then again, that's not my type of personality.

I personally think that a certain type of person is cut out for these roles. Not everyone is made to be a sales person, business owner, CEO, etc. no matter how much social media leads us to believe. I firmly believe that we all have a role in our personal and professional life that we excel at based on our likes, dislikes and our personality traits.

I have taken enough personality tests and have been recognized for my sales experience to know that NOT everyone can do this. Just like I couldn't sit behind a desk and crunch number all day or create pie charts or be in a very structured position. I thrive on freedom, challenges and limitless potential which can scare the shit out of some people.

Here are a few personality tests you can take to see what type of person you are and what roles you might work best in:

What type of person are you? What type of person are you willing to become? When you think of your "best life", what does that look like? You can't hide behind a screen just sharing a few tips and tricks and expect people to throw their money at you. YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK! Just like exercise. You can't get six pack abs unless you do the work. You can't read enough books or listen to enough podcast to have six pack abs form for you. The same goes for business and sales. You can't except results if you aren't putting in the work.

I have many mentors in my life to hold me accountable to my goals and dreams. While I'm good at keeping my own promises to myself and setting high expectations, it is the accountability that really helps me excel! I know how my brain operates and I am much more likely to hold true to my word if I have someone holding me accountable or if I have some skin (money) in the game.

What's holding you accountable? Do you know what role or career suits you best? Are you so passionate about your product or service that you would scream it from the rooftops??? If not, ask yourself why and start doing the work to figure out what works best for you and the type of person you wish to become.

Are you looking for additional support? Guidance? Mindset tools and strategy to increase your confidence in life and your business?
